• Early Inhabitants:
The first humans and ancestors in DR Congo were the "Pygmy" groups, such as the Mbuti and Efe. They lived wondering through the forest, hunting wild animals, fishing, gathering plants, fruits, & fungi. While living a nomadic lifestyle they traded with local farmers as well.

- • 1,000 BC : Bantu-Speaking migrants moved into the Congo region.
- • AD 1,100 : Kingdoms were forming, Loango (North), and Kongo witch is also referred as the Congo Kingdom formed. (shown in the 1700's)
- 15th Century (1401-1500) :
- The formations of the Kongo Church Occurred.
Origin of Zaire:
- The Portuguese explorer Diego Cão arrived at the Congo River in 1482. He asked the local people for the name and the name was misunderstood from “Nzadi” and recorded as “Zaire”.
- 1600’s :
- Late 19th Century :
- Belgians took control of the Congo territory.
- Belgium Influenced over the region though the “Humanitarian Project” set up by Leopold II.
- The Belgian King secured the land from the local leaders of Congo with help of the British explorer Henry Moton Standley.
- The King of Belgium then claimed the Congo territory for himself.
- In 1885 the Congo Free State was born.
